Design On a Dime

My dear friend and personal interior designer Paul Zansler and I fancy it tradition to attend Housing Works annual Design on a Dime Event.

Running from April 26th through the 28th the Metropolitan Pavilion hosts fifty of New York’s finest interior designers, showcasing donated merchandise from today’s leading retailers. Each designer creates a room or vignette where the product is sold fifty to seventy percent off the market value. All proceeds from the New York benefit are donated to the Get A Room foundation providing housing for Aids and HIV victims as well as the financially disadvantaged.

The efforts of founding chair and interior designer James Huniford, and the help of Evette Rios, Laura Spencer, and Charlotte Moss have proven to be a success as Design on a Dime has raised over two million dollars since 2005. The event was filled with celebrities such as Genevieve Gorder, Jamie Drake, Alex McCord & Simon Van Kempen of The Real Houswives of NY who proudly showcased their Aluxe Home collection being sold during the event.

Alongside the star guests were style favorites Bill Cunningham of the New York Times, the stylish Cesar Gaviria, David Asmar, and Behaviour’s founder Chad Vo. Complete with cocktails and music provided by the chic DJ Shawn Lisle, Paul and I had a lovely time dancing and shopping the night away.

I strongly suggest visiting the well designed spaces of Patrick Hamilton, Nick Olsen, Harry Heissmann, and Tyler Wisler to only list a few. Take a look at some sneaky images captured during Thursday’s event.
